Grinch Christmas Countdown Wall Hanging

Hi Guys!! I hope that December has been treating you all well. Today, I am going to show you how I made a Countdown to Christmas Grinch Wall Hanging. I am making this for my nephew who is almost 6 years old and is getting very impatient waiting on Christmas and Santa Claus. Below are the steps I used along with a few photos and a final picture of the completed wall hanging. I DID NOT come up with this idea on my own, I found the picture on Pinterest and went from there. I used a 10" x 10" wood panel from Plaid Crafts and painted the whole board with an Antique White Acrylic Paint. I did not sand or apply gesso to the wood panel, I went straight in with the paint.
Once that was dry I applied two coats of Mod Podge Mega Glitter in Hologram to give the background some pizzazz! I lightly drew the picture and words in pencil once it was dry and started painting the Grinch hand using Folkart Kelly Green Acrylic Paint. His sleeves were painted with Folkart Apple Red Acrylic Paint and Titanium White.
Now one of my favorite paints in the world, Folkart Multi-Surface Chalkboard paint in Black, was used to draw the string and the ornament to write the days on. You can use any color you like. I am a lover of black but Folkart's Chalkboard paint comes in red, purple, orange and other colors, so you can use whatever color you want! You can customize it to you and your child's taste.
I used Folkart Extreme Glitter in Neon Green to paint in the words (double coated) and then added a coat of Folkart Glitterific in the color Green which added so much more sparkle and different sizes of Glitter. Then, I took Folkart Multisurface Acrylic Paint in Licorice to outline everything to make it pop.
I just am thrilled about how this came out and even more thrilled at how much my nephew loves it. I wish the pictures did it justice as it is so beautiful with all the glitters and sparkles. I also added a string which i glued to the back and some chalk from the dollar store. Remember-You can make the ornament any color you choose and if you don't like sparkles you can just keep it wood or off-white or whatever YOU want! You can also use a canvas or whatever you have to do this. Also, Chalk markers would work great as well. Thank you so very much for checking out my post and you can find all these products on the PLAID CRAFTS website as well as your local craft store. Happy Holidays to you and yours!
